NEW! Family Night Talk Times
Starting on January 12, 2012 Top Floor Learning will be hosting "Family Night Talk Times." This monthly ESL
Converstation Group will be facilitated by Elizabeth Niergarth and caters to students/families wishing to converse
in English. Although participation if FREE, we would like students to pre-register so that we know how much space is
available. Please call Gail at 413-283-2329 to register.
Workshops & Classes
English as a Second Language Program
ESL101: One-to-One instruction in English as a Second Language
Registration Fee: $75.00 for six months (minimum of 36 instructional hours, 2 hours each week).
For beginning English learners. Sessions are learner-centered, with practical activities that focus on the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills needed to cope at home, work, and in the community. Sessions are once a week for two hours. You may continue until your goals are met.
Prerequisite: Skills assessment before the first tutoring session.

ESL Conversation Classes
In the ESL Conversation Classes you will become more fluent, comfortable, and confident using English in spoken communication. Classes are fun, lively and interactive, with lots of opportunities for speaking English as well as grammar review.
ESL102: Conversation Class in English as a Second Language
Registration Fee: Fall Semester, $75.00; Spring 2012 Semester, $90.00
Additional costs: Course workbook, approximately $20.00, purchased at first class.
For learners at Intermediate and Advanced levels. Classes include grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, with plenty of conversation to practice skills learned. Each class is developmental, building on skills previously learned. Learners may register for as many semesters as they need to reach their goals.
Time: Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 12 noon.
Date: Fall Semester: September 6 through December 13, 2011 (15 weeks)
Spring Semester: February 2 - June 12, 2012 (19 weeks).
Minimum: 4; Maximum: 10.

Why Do You Need to Pass the TOEFL?
You need to pass this test to get an international certificate stating your general or/and specific language knowledge. You can use the certificate for applications to colleges and universities around the world, find a job abroad, retrieve lost citizenship and immigrate.
ESL104: One-to-One Citizenship Instruction
Registration Fee: $75.00 for six months (minimum of 36 instructional hours, 2 hours each week).
Additional Cost: Purchase of a course workbook, approximate cost $15 - $20
Suitable for High Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. This individualized course is for students who want to take the Citizenship Test. You will review US symbols, history, holidays, government, etc. and take a practice test to ensure your readiness. You can continue until your goals are met.
Prerequisite: Skills assessment before the first citizenship session.
Requirements: Purchase of a course workbook (approximate price $15 to $20).
Date and Time: To be determined by the tutor. Call 293 2329 to pre-register. Payment is required before first class.
