English as a Second Language Program
ESL101: One-to-One instruction in English as a Second Language
Registration Fee: $75.00 for six months (minimum of 36 instructional hours).
This individualized program centers on the needs and goals of the adult ESL learner who is just beginning to learn English. A trained volunteer will work with the learner focusing on the listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills necessary to cope with everyday life at home, in the community, and in the workplace. Learners may register for successive six-month cycles until their goals are met.
Prerequisite: Skills assessment before the first tutoring session.
Date: Open Enrollment: Each learner's six-month period begins at the first tutoring session.

ESL102, ESL103: Conversation Classes in English as a Second Language
Registration Fee: $30.00 for an eight-week cycle, with one week for make-up.
Conversation classes are designed for learners at Intermediate and Advanced levels
who would like more opportunities to converse with peers and teachers in English. Each class will have a
minimum of four and a maximum of ten learners. Content will be based on teaching the skills
necessary to cope with everyday life at home, in the community and in the workplace. Each class in the
cycle will be developmental, building on skills previously learned. Learners are expected to
complete each cycle, and may register for successive eight-week cycles until their goals are met.
Prerequisite: Skills assessment before the first conversation class
Requirements: Purchase of a course workbook (approximate price $15-$20)
ESL102- Intermediate:
Time: Thursdays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

ESL103- Advanced:

ESL104: Citizenship Classes
Registration Fee: $30.00 for an eight week cycle, with one week for make-up.
Citizenship classes are designed for learners of English as a Second Language who would like to apply to
become United States citizens. The course will be suitable for High Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced speakers
of English. It will cover the format of the test that all applicants are required to take. Learners will review
all the items that applicants are required to know in order to answer the questions on the test. (U.S. symbols,
history, holidays, government, etc.). The class will have a minimum of four and a maximum of ten learners.
Learners are expected to complete each cycle, and may register for successive eight-week cycles until their
goals are met.

Requirements: Purchase of a course workbook (approximate price $15 to $20).

This FREE conversation group encourages ESL students of all levels of proficiency to meet and converse
informally in a relaxed setting.
Prerequisite: Enrolled or waiting to be enrolled students in the ESL programs
