
Literacy Services: Information
Eligibility for Literacy Services: Adults 16 years and older who are no longer
attending high school.
Location: Top Floor Learning, on the upper level of the Palmer Public Library
Dates:
- One to one Instruction: Open enrollment - Begin tutoring at any time.
- Classess/small groups: Please view our Cycles of Instruction below.
English as a Second Language
- One-to-One instruction for those who are beginning to learn English
- Conversation classes for high beginners, intermediate and advanced levels
- Citizenship classes for those who intend to become U.S. citizens
Reading, Writing, Math
- One-to-One instruction in Reading and Writing
- One-to-One instruction in Pre-GED Preparation
- One-to-One instruction in Pre-GED Math Preparation
- One-to-One Instruction in Placement Test Preparation for Community Colleges
- Small Group instruction for Pre-GED Math Preparation
- Basic Math Skills for Everyday Life
- Writing Class: Having Fun with Writing
- Writing Class: Pre-GED Language Arts, Writing
- GED Half-Length Practice Tests
Cycles of Instruction: For classes and small groups the year will be divided into five eight-week
cycles and one four-week summer cycle, giving six cycles in total in any one calendar year.

Registration: Will be ongoing throughout the year.
- One to one Instruction: Registrants enroll at any time.
- Classess/small groups: Registrants will join the next available
Cycle of Instruction following registration.

Make-ups/Holidays: For classes and small groups, any day lost due to the closure of the library will be made up during the week
following each cycle. (See dates on next page)
Skills Assessments:
- One- to-One Instruction: Will be held prior to first tutoring session during the Director's office hours.
- Classes/small groups: Will be held prior to the start of each cycle.
Hours: Monday, 12 noon to 5 pm; Tuesday - Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
Registration Fees, due at the time of registration:
- One-to-One instruction: $75.00 for a six-month cycle with a minimum of 36 instuctional hours.
- All classes and Small Groups: $30 per eight-week cycle
Registration fees must be paid in full before the start of each cycle.
Refunds: Refunds will only be made if a class is cancelled due to underenrollment or if a one-to-one tutor cannot be found.
Withdrawal: If a learner has to withdraw from any cycle due to an unforeseen emergency or other extenuating circumstances, fees paid will be carried over to the next available cycle.
Payment: Cash or check are acceptable forms of payment, as well as the use of our PayPal links.
Books/Materials: Depending on the class signed up for, students may have to purchase a workbook.
These will be purchased from Top Floor Learning, and paid for at the time of registration.

Cancellation Policies
Weather Policy: If the Palmer Public Library is closed due to inclement weather, there
will be no classes.
